Lake Iatt is a cypress-covered lake in the secluded lands of central Louisiana. This peaceful paradise is just 35 miles from the city center of Alexandria.

The city houses Alexandria International Airport, Rapides Regional Medical Center, and many shopping, dining, and entertainment establishments.

Cypress Trees Decorate Nearly 7,000 Acres of Water

Lake Iatt’s waters covering over 6,500 acres feature cypress trees everywhere you look. The moss-draped trees create beautiful landscapes, unlike any other in the state.

The waterbody has an average depth of five feet but can be as deep as 19 feet. There is plenty of shade along the lake’s 60-mile shoreline to fish or take a break from the sun.

Five boat ramps around the shore, including Public Landing, Hyde’s Landing, JD’s Landing, and Hog Island Landing, are convenient for anglers and duck hunters.

Recreation Where You Can Relax

Since Lake Iatt’s waters are reserved for non-motorized boating, it will always be a quiet place for boating, fishing, or relaxing.

Kayakers and canoers have a grand time paddling the tranquil waters looking for wildlife like wood ducks, geese, lakeside deer, or birds perched in the trees.

The lake is known for its excellent largemouth bass, bream, and crappie fishing. Hunters also have fun challenging the many migratory ducks.

Alexandria Zoological Park is just 30 miles away and offers exciting opportunities for families to get face-to-face interaction with over 500 animals, including lions, tigers, and bears.

For the history lovers, Kent Plantation House, Forts Randolph & Buhlow, and James Wade Bolton House are historical exhibits.

Louisiana Mudfest is hosted along the Red River just a few miles southwest of Lake Iatt. The all-weekend mudding event features huge trucks, bounty holes, and live music.
